Chris Ashton had a moment to forget after a scintillating start to his career at Toulon. The converted fullback was playing in the Champions Cup against Bath in the 3rd round this afternoon down in the South of France. In a tighly fought game which saw Toulon take a narrow victory.
After taking the ball in his own try area the fullback tried to clear the ball, completely scuffed it, the ball bouncing still in play for Jonathan Joseph to stroll in for a try.
The former England and Saracens star was quick to laugh it off, though i’m sure he wouldn’t have been quite so buoyant if Toulon had lost. A piece of skill from Anthony Belleau sealed the win for Toulon at home to stop an upset.

Chris has made a great start at Toulon and is becoming a fan favourite. His new role at Full Back seems to be working out for the English back and he could well be on his way to the top try scorer in the Top 14 this season. He currently shares top spot in those standings with Montpellier winger and absolute beast Nemani Nadolo.
Chris had this to say on twitter after the game.
